performance
Kramladen
Vienna
The performance entitled “Vacuum Chamber” took place a few days after the performance “When an alien meets a witch.” Like the previous piece, it was based on drawings and music, but the general scenario of the action was modified. This time the artists started from the other edges of the room (Ng Chor Guan from the stage and Anka Lesniak from the space for the audience). Anka was making her drawing, which was appearing on the paper simultaneously with the music appearing in the space.
Finally, a drawing about 5 metres long – 'a score' – 'connected' the stage and the space for the audience. The drawing was stuck to a musical instrument (the theremin). In the final part of the performance, the visual artist was continuing the drawing... on the musician's body, while the musician still was playing...
The reference of the title is to the vacuum chamber, as a space used for experiments where things start to act in a different way...
